Last year, I was fortunate to have attended the Seattle Interactive Conference (SIC). SIC is an amazing conference showcasing the latest trends at the crossroads of innovations, technology and business in our digital era. One of the standout speakers at this meeting was David Shing. David describes himself as America Online’s (AOL) digital prophet. From its early days of dial-up internet service, AOL has re-invented itself as a digital and software company. It has been digital revolutionaries like David Shing that have kept this long time company navigating in a forward direction.
His speech, entitled “Innovation is out, Invention is in” centered on the latest trends and evolutions of society and the exponential effects of mass media. He used examples such as virtual and augmented reality to further explain the interconnectivity that technology has evolved to have with our everyday life. Here are a few compelling and motivating points that he made during his presentation
- Discussed the disruption that today’s access to technology creates a constant state of inattention and distraction. However, his perspective is that there is a lot to gain in what could be a state of information overload.
- Furthermore, this world wide access sets up vast avenues for creativity, instruction, publishing, and marketing allowing the private individual opportunities not known previously.
- Overall, this creates two way street for business advertising and directed marketing as well as opportunities for the consumer and start up entrepreneurs to have global access for their needs.
I have included his links below and highly encourage you to check out his sites, YouTube channel and if you get a chance to attend the Seattle Interactive Conference, you won’t regret it!!!
