Offered only once a year, this program provides a unique chance for students to discover American history first-hand with new friends from across the country! Explore Williamsburg, Mt. Vernon, Alexandria, Gettysburg, and Philadelphia on this jam-packed, fun-filled journey to better understand the evolution of American democracy. On Close Up’s 5-day/4-night Founding of a Nation Program, students have the opportunity to:
- Debate and discuss the life and legacy of the Father of Our Country through an inside look at his mansion;
- Learn more about American history through exploration of the birthplace of our nation;
- Walk through the Battle of Gettysburg and learn more about the turning point in the Civil War with a Gettysburg Park Ranger; and
- Discover Colonial Williamsburg through a guided study visit led by Williamsburg’s own historical interpreters!
Participation in a Close Up program requires parent or guardian approval for any participants under 18 years of age.
